3. Buffing Process
Car Headlight Restoration:
Over time the plastic that makes up your headlights will degraded and become cloudy from oxidation or become yellow due to the weather and the extreme sun. Headlights are the most important things to keep clean on your car. Not only do these powerful beams let you see the road, they let other motorists see you.
Most headlight lenses are made of polycarbonate plastic. This strong plastic is perfect for taking on harsh road conditions without breaking, which you definitely want, but it doesn’t play well with the sun. To protect it initially, manufacturers coat the lenses with a UV protective film. But over time this film is destroyed by UV rays, allowing the plastic to oxidize. If your headlights have started to haze over or become yellowish, then it’s clear the oxidation process has begun. Don’t fret though, because getting those headlights looking new again is an easy task for us to accomplish. We’ve mastered the right technique to get your night vision back to factory fresh in no time.
Our Process To Beautiful Headlights:
1. Washing the headlight lenses with car soap and water so that the tape will stick during the next step.
2. Taping off the headlights using automotive tape to completely block off the headlight and protect the rest of the car from the sanding stage.
3. Wet sand the headlights with 1000 and 3000 grit sanding sponges in straight and horizontal strokes to remove oxidation and fine scratches.
4. Applying a Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish using a high speed buffing applicator pad to remove any additional oxidation, yellowing and cloudiness from the headlights which will make the headlights clear.
5. We will apply UV sealant to your headlights to maintain clarity on your newly restored headlights. The Headlight Coating will provided durable UV Protection and help to reduces scratches to your headlights.
